Art Trail

Follow our Art Trail into our 2021 Exhibition, as we take you through a self guided tour of the City of Greater Dandenong to explore some of the most talented local artists, and some of the best art this municipality has to offer. The Art Trail kicks off at the home of the Art Show on June 21st and runs through until the end of the exhibition on March 6th 2022!

  1. Cook Island Youth by Sue Jarvis

Drop in to see some original artwork as part of the Art Trail while visiting the home of the Noble Park Art show. Sit, relax and have a cuppa while you learn more about what Noble Park Community Centre has to offer.

2. Behind Blue Eyes by Anthony Galea

Anthony is a long time volunteer and entrant. He also works at the Centre as a Drawing Tutor.

3. Braided Bun by Sophia Leap

Sophia is a high school student and previous junior award winner.

4. Small Shrine by Toshi Handa

Toshi is a local artist and teaches All Ability Art and Craft classes at NPCC.

Anthony with various mediums which you will see as you explore the Art Trail.

6. Braided Hair by Sophia Leap - COMING SOON

Sophia enjoys creating realist works using pencil, can you believe she is only 16?

7. A Diversity of People by Toshi Handa - COMING SOON

Toshi was born in Osaka, Japan and produces a wide range of artwork that incorporates design, art, multimedia and installation art. His work is a combination of Buddhist philosophy and pop.

Being central to Dandenong’s Art Precinct head down to Harmony Square to see Toshi’s original works of art. Explore more about the Drum Theatre, Heritage Hill Museum and what the Library has on offer.

8. The World of Neo Greenman by Toshi Handa - COMING SOON

In recent years, Toshi's focus has shifted to creating a platform for future generations by providing children an opportunity to explore their inherent creativity. He also began teaching people with disabilities in a number of programs a few years ago and shortly after, he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder himself. His own diagnosis has helped him make sense of his own world and the art he has been creating for some time which reflects a personal sense of alienation and difficulty adapting to his surroundings

9. The Seal by Heather Duggan

Heather is a former volunteer of the Art Show committee, that loves to work in various mediums. In recent years she can begin to experiment with scratchboard and ink dots. Follow Heathers work throughout the trail.

10. Scarlet Honeyeater by Nhan Ta

Nhan is a volunteer who supports community members at Springvale Neighbourhood House. Nhan came to Australia as a refugee from Vietnam.

11. Huangshan Mountain by Yiwen Zhu

Yiwen teaches Chinese calligraphy and painting at Springvale Neighbourhood House. Before coming to Australia Yiwen was a calligraphy master in China.

12. Resting Hibiscus by Heather Duggan

Heather is a hobby artist whose interest is mainly in botanical watercolour painting. This grew from her love of gardening. She enjoys painting with a likeminded artists each week at her local painting club.

13. The Debutante by Heather Duggan

Heather enjoys creating fine detailed pieces that represent the true beauty of nature.

14. Sunday Outing by John de Blauw - COMING SOON

Self-taught, John sold his first paining at 14 and has now been painting for 80 years. We’ll let you do the maths…!

John paints beautiful landscapes which include people or animals with all having a lovely story to tell. John chose painting to remain as a hobby and he was often approached to work in galleries. Without making a career of painting he has still been able to sell close to 3000 paintings.

15. Tarbu by Anthony Galea

Anthony enjoys working with acrylics and painting animals, specifically those in their natural habitat.
